A Word from Cat Thomas at KLUC
This is to all my friends and family in the Radio, Record & Music Industry.
I wanted to share with you a story about our friend Jackson. About 8 months into my wife Amberly's pregnancy with Robbie, we went back to Ohio for a baby shower with two of Amberly's best friends. I still have an amazing picture of three women, Amberly, Monica & Amy all standing there with their bellies sticking out. All ready to bring a new life into the world within the next 60 days. All looking forward to being mothers. First came Shannon. Next was our Robbie and a little over a month later Amy had Jackson. At first all three were happy and healthy but within a short period of time, Jackson was diagnosed with cancer. He fought hard and brave for two years but his little body finally gave way to this vicious killer just after his second birthday. I couldn't even fathom the pain that Amy and Kevin endured. As I look at a healthy and happy Robbie & Jillian, my heart still breaks to this day as I wonder why God blessed me and gave very close friends of ours the burden of the death of a child. When you think of it, I really hit the lottery. Compared to the lottery of winning money or having a brilliant career, the lottery of having not only one, but two healthy, happy children is the most valuable of all. I know I would rather live in a box with not a dime to my name than give up my kids health! That is why I have committed again to shave my head for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
This is where you come in. I'm not looking for cash! What I'm looking for is exposure and things that will help raise cash for this cause. Last year, Mike Lieberman was the man as he had BOW WOW come in and SHAVE MY HEAD for the cameras! When I went to the meeting last night, that was all those 181 people talked about. They showed Video and TV reports of Bow Wow shaving my friggin nugget. CRAZY! You can check out the video here:
I know many have been affected by this disease. My mother died when I was 4 from cancer, my sister is currently terminal, I became a bone marrow donor because of Brandon, a little boy with cancer who listened to Chet Buchanan & The Morning Zoo and came to us when he needed help. He passed away a year ago last Christmas Day after fighting like a champion. We all have close friends who we consider family on this email who have battled cancer and there is more than one of you! Just know one fact...I was in a room with 20 kids with cancer last year. Odds are 1 out of those 5 died this past year. That means 4 of those kids are with my friends Jackson & Brandon and aren't coming back .
There are stories that I'm sure have hit all of us. So let's get to it! If you happen to have an autograph poster, item, or happen to be in the Las Vegas area or have an artist here that would like to be a celebrity shaver for the cameras on March 6th...we'd love to have you! As you can see...I'm not pretty with or without hair. So letting someone shave it, really is a small deal in relation to what's at stake.
So far Justin Bieber has committed 2 autographed guitars for the cause and Planet Hollywood has committed weekend stays for me to auction off. By the way, if you go to my site, for every $20 donated you get an entry to win the TWO night stay at Planet Hollywood. https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/participantid/364993
Yep, a little hair is such a minor sacrifice to help raise money and awareness for such an amazing cause. Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to read this.
