Major Blessings go out to Capitol's Paula Tuggey and Rachael Prine for kicking off last week with a quality hang that included HOT 97's Ebro... and for rounding out the week with a visit to the office from Cali Swag District to record a Vitamin A segment for SINternet.com thanking all those at Radio who have helped make their debut single a success... Check out the SINternet.com remix section for Remixes of "Teach Me How To Dougie" featuring B.o.B., Bow Wow, Red Café, Jermaine Dupri and Sean Kingston. Lightning strikes Radio Programmers who jump off of records based on seeing their activity slow down on the charts rather than making a more educated decision by determining how the record is actually reacting in their market and with their audience. Executives in our business find themselves X-Communicated for continuing to put unrealistic pressure on their Promotion heads forcing them to ask for favors and stations to add records they are not committed to. This continued practice does nothing to benefit the project and paints a bad image of the Artist and the Music in the mind of the Radio Programmers. When are we going to start paying attention to the market- place rather than trying to dictate to it? Storm clouds loom over members of Record Label Promotion Staffs who are stuck in "I" mode instead of playing as a member of a "Team." In this business it is the "Team" that stands together who usually comes out on top. Lightning strikes Artists who don't show up for station events or meetings in a timely manner putting a bad taste in the mouth of Programmers who have an impact on their music and the support it gets. Artists, if your looking for radio support it is key to establish a working relationship built on mutual respect with the stations... Managers, it's tough enough to get your Artists music a shot in an overcrowded marketplace make sure your team and Artists take all the necessary steps to help themselves succeed.
